The Camberwob

Travelling into the Glimmerwhim Bramble has become harder and harder these past few seasons. The centre of the woods still hasn’t been reached since its discovery 7 years ago and my bones ache. I’ve been head of the exploration force’s zoology division for a long time; for I study and catalogue the creatures and critters that call this grove their home.

These forest creatures are an elusive bunch (Tottlemos and Flickroot being some of the most sly), the Camberwob has still eluded me. We have only a few reports from scout teams possibly seeing one. The only information we have is a piece of torn paper with a crude sketch and notes that we believe to be the Camberwob as it doesn’t match anything we’ve discovered. This small bipedal seems to cover itself in sticks and ferns (how they stay on is a mystery), and it’s smooth face reminding me of carved stone giving us two suggestions:

A- It’s a prey animal that has the instinct to camouflage itself to stay alive.

B - Or it’s an ambush predator, disguising itself as a tasty plant.

I lean more towards A, even though we only have this sketch, it’s mouth seems to have no teeth and the eye placement and features suit my hypothesis. Sadly, I only have this chance to find it, my last expedition. I’ll add a report when we get to our first camp site at the deepest part of the woods we’ve explored.

Day 3 - The Glindlemoss Camp

Sorry for the late update, it took longer than planned to reach the camp. Myself and the relief team got wrong directions and were forced through a Firethistle field; Luckily my Blinkfinch, Herny, flew ahead guiding us out. But anyway we made it, that’s whats important.

Day 6 - Twilight View Hide, Outside camp

I’ve been awake now for the past two moons, but it finally showed. A Camberwob. It is real, and it seems to show more intelligence than others similar to Glimberfoxes. We categorise these type of creature as Whimlets. I also manage to see it adding sticks to its collection; the sticks are held together by the critter’s matted hair. It’s eyes are empty apart from a small star-like glimmer. I hope it’s not a figment of my sleep deprived mind, it appears and disappears so quickly.
